Welcome to the Rivington Ridgebacks website. We are dedicated to the breeding and successful ownership of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Through this site we hope to give an insight into the huge personalities of these dogs, and to provide you with first hand experience of owning and breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks within a family environment.

Siren is our two year old Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch. She is our family pet, and lives with us in Horwich near Rivington Pike.

Siren was successfully mated in September 2007, and gave birth to her first litter on 26th November.

My own interest in Rhodesian Ridgebacks goes back nearly ten years, when I first saw one in Paris. I was in love with the breed at first sight, and could not wait to get one.

Owning a dog is a huge commitment, and I knew I had to wait until I could give the dog the time and love and attention it would need.

The time only became right over six years later, when we were Landlord and Landlady of a local pub. We could at last get a Ridgeback...

We had reserched a lot about the breed during this time, and felt sure it was the right breed for us as a young family. We were right, and Siren is a very important part of our family.

This breed can be demanding on its owners, and is not suited as a first dog, or for the inexperianced dog owner. But if you are confident around dogs, and passionate about them, this breed can offer you so much more than just sloppy kisses and barking at the postman !
